LENTEN SOUP DINNERS
Friday, March 3
Traditionally, every Friday during Lent, St. Anthony serves a vegetarian soup meal from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. The meal consists of salad, two types of soup, bread, a simple dessert, coffee and punch. The suggested donation is $4 per person over the age of 10 and all the profits will be donated to various charities to feed the hungry. The meal is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a healthy meal and be ready to attend Stations of the Cross at 7:00 p.m. The first dinner will be on March 3 and the two soups will be Boston Clam Chowder and Minestrone Soup. You may make reservations by signing up after Mass or by calling the parish office.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
Following Soup Dinners on Friday evenings, St. Anthony will have Stations of the Cross which are held at 7:00 p.m. in the church each Friday of Lent. Please join us as we journey together toward Easter.
FILM ON FORGIVENESS
Sunday, March 12
On September 11, 2001, a young member of the family of Hermann and Alberta Lorenz, longtime parishioners of St. Anthony, was killed working in the Tower One at the World Trade Center in New York City. A documentary was made recently about his parent’s reaction to this tragedy. They took their heartbreak and anger and turned them into positive action and mercy. A theme of the Lenten Reading of the Woman at the Well (March 19) is forgiveness. The film shows people who choose reconciliation and forgiveness. The film has been shown on PBS, in churches and university campuses across the country. This film, “In Our Son’s Name,” will be shown in the Memorial Center on Sunday afternoon, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. It is a powerful film of forgiveness, and all parishioners are invited to attend.
Thursday, March 30
Our Lenten communal penance service will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church.
You may have noticed some Volunteer Agreement Forms on the sign- in table for the Parish Festival this year. This form is a new practice for the Sacramento Diocese to clarify the status of volunteers and employees. We ask that if you participate in a ministry or an event that we have a volunteer form on file. This only needs to be completed once and we will keep it in the office. For your convenience you may submit the form electronically or print a copy and bring it into the office. To submit the form electronically please click here. To print a copy of the form to turn into the office, please click here. Thank you for your part in making our community a welcoming place.
